The North Carolina Tar Heels and the UCLA Bruins will travel to Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for their Sweet 16 matchup. UNC began their tournament run with a dominant 95-63 win vs. Marquette, and more recently a 93-86 upset win over No.1 Baylor. UCLA narrowly won their first-round matchup vs. Akron, 57-53, and defeated a good Saint Mary’s team, 72-56. As of now, UCLA is a 2.5-point favorite, which proves how good of a matchup this game will be.
WHAT'S THE PICK?
All season, the biggest problem plaguing North Carolina has been their defense. However, during the last few games, especially in the NCAA Tournament, UNC has played amazing defense, holding its opponents to less than 40% shooting. The Tar Heels will keep this up against a UCLA team that is 148th in effective field goal percentage on the season.
This game has the potential to be an all-time game in March Madness, and I think the edge goes to UNC, so I’ll gladly take them +2.5.
The pick: UNC +2.5
Prediction: North Carolina 76, UCLA 71
